What are the duties of an Usher ?

  • Greeting worshippers courteously with a Smile and a Handshake

  • Presenting the Church Bulletin

  • Directing worshippers to the seats and efficiently arranging seating

  • Assisting in directing the congregation during offering

  • Dealing with worshiper’s querie

  • Tidying the sanctuary after the worship service is over


Who can serve as an Usher ?

  • Almost anyone! Ushers do not need to be full members of the church but they should be regular worshippers who are familiar with the nature and order of Smyrna Assembly.


How often would I need to serve 

  • With the current number of ushers we have, duty is approximately two Sunday’s in every four. 


Will a lot of my time be required ?

  • Ushers are required to be on duty 20 minutes before the start of the service. They are also required to stay after the worship service to help in either clearing the hall or meeting the visitors. Separate ushering teams are used for Friday Evening (7.30pm), Sunday morning (8.30 a.m.) and evening service (7.00 p.m.).
